April 3, 2010

Every year we look forward to our neighborhood egg hunt, and this year was no different! I volunteered to help hide eggs and David arrived with the girls a little later.

One thing we failed to take into account is how excited Kate is any time she sees a playground -- all she wanted to do was hit the swings.

Our pals Viviana and Antonio.

There was a lot of confusion at the beginning of the hunt, there were different age groupings than in years past and we never did wind up in the spot we were supposed to.

Ginny and Valentina look down at Kate.

We'd gone into this thinking either all three girls would participate in the area for kids aged 1-4, or that I'd take Grace over with the 5-7 year olds and David would take Suki and Kate over to the area for the younger children. Instead, when the hunt began we were so far away from the tremendous pack of people heading into the section for the youngest children that we just tossed all three girls into the 5-7 section in front of us. They were so thrilled to find a single egg each that it was hard to convince them to just put the eggs in their baskets and keep searching for more.

Kate got her one egg and then went straight for the slide.

And honestly, she was so happy playing and having fun was the whole point -- we just let her proceed as she liked.

Racing to find an egg in the tree.

Hunting with their friend Scout.

Enjoying a treat.

I love how Kate jumps in and plays with whoever looks like they're having a good time.

Grace takes Suki over for another chat with the rabbit.

After the hunt, we had one of our lawn picnics -- we love them so.

I couldn't resist taking some pictures of our time outside after naps today -- I'm just feel so lucky to live in such a lovely neighborhood, where get togethers like this are spontaneous and fun and not at all unusual.

Looking at the Zhu Zhu pets.

Fun with lots of bubble wands.

I just love these guys.
