A funny Grace.

A sick Suki.

And two shots of the one on the way -- here you see an arm diagonally on the left and a sideways face. The eyes are in shadow but you can see a nose, mouth and chin here.

This one is a little trickier to make out. There's a head in profile, an arm diagonally on top (she kept her hands in front of her face for a large part of the exam) and then a belly rising up on the right.

November 29, 2007

Surprise surprise, Suki has no shoes or socks. They never last long in the car.

Suki checks out her sister's grin.

A faint attempt to put her sock back on. Also, check out this pregnant lady parking space I got at the Babies 'R' Us!

Reading in the morning.

Practicing pushing and pulling the inserts to these blocks.

Got it!

Barnyard Dance!

On to a new block.

Shaking blocks together.

Showing Suki some illustrations from Who's Hiding.

Racing around the coffee table.

Getting Suki ready and then...

First steps toward Dad! Hooray, Suki!

Watching the Charlie Brown Christmas special.

November 27, 2007

Grace was reading so sweetly to her sister but I was a little too late to catch snap that picture. So you get this one instead.

Suki presses a cheek on a couch/chair/wherever and smiles up at you when she wants a kiss on the other cheek. I never fail to be charmed by it and will rush across the room to smooch her cheek or neck, this scene repeating several times at a go. Grace, on the other hand, does not care one whit, as is evidenced here.

Of course, this could be because she's not feeling well. I took her to the pediatrician and it turns out we caught the bronchitis early, she's on antibiotics now. We got her seen when there was fluid but no infection in her ears, so the antibiotics should help avoid that mess too. You know that to begin with Grace is sometimes not too great with her balance -- the fluid was really messing her up though and she was tipping and tumbling all over the house.

Too cute not to share.

November 26, 2007

Grace puts her sweater on her head like a Thneed. You know, like in the tale of the Lorax.

Giddy when she sees a camera.

November 25, 2007

Two girls trying to share.
(Grace was sick and got to stay in her pajamas with her hair uncombed today. It was just pathetic.)

They like to share whatever the other one has. And by share, I mean shoulder the other out of the way in an attempted grab at control of the toy. They really are getting better but it can be hilarious to see sometimes.

Suki is always so fascinated by her sister.

The queen of order lines up her Sesame Street figures.

While the queen of chaos hangs out in the bathroom. Once Grace actually starts to use this seat I think we're going to have to gate this bathroom, so strong is the allure of this spot.

Suki loves getting attention from her big sister.

Laughing together over a kiss.

November 23, 2007

Suki plays with the ABC snail...

...the quacking ducks...

...and the drawing pad.

Then she relaxes with the art book.

Looking up at the camera.

Grace laughs as Dad takes the Who's Hiding book a little too literally.

Why is Suki sitting in the crib?

Because today's the day Grace finally wanted her big girl bed!

She was so cute laying her head down on the mattress -- she was even laying it on the slats before we got everything put together!

So pleased. Grace put the last screw in this bed and helped me turn it.

Climbing up. It was madness trying to keep Grace and Suki out of the room while we assembled this bed. While they are usually content to go off and play by themselves, the minute they weren't allowed to be with us that was all they wanted.

Pleased as punch.

Cozying up with her new pillow.

Giggling as she imagines being able to spend the whole night in this bed.

There's no night light in her room (yet, we're waiting to see if she needs it) but the first thing she did after we left was pick up the book we left on her bed and acted like she was reading. She even recited some of the nursery rhymes before turning in.

Grace momentarily disappeared from the screen but then climbed back into bed and went back to sleep without any intervention from us. It's midnight now and she's still doing great. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the rest of the night goes smoothly.

November 22, 2007

Dad prepares breakfast as Suki cheerfully waits.

Grace was so excited to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade that she kept running in and out of the room, dancing like the acrobats and exclaiming every time she saw a familiar character.

Sisters kissing.

Grace spies the mice on a float.

All on her own Suki practiced trying on her sister's necklace.

A little reading on the zebra.

Go Dog Go with Mom.

Suki and her Dad.

Waiting for her dinner.

Ready to eat!

Watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special.

Eating with a spoon for the first time!

She was so pleased with herself. Another first today was Suki helping me unload the dishwasher, handing me silverware piece by piece and saying "Thank you!" after each hand off.

Grace finishes her chocolate mousse -- she loved this little treat.

Two fun Grace stories: as she was running across the floor this evening she tumbled to the ground. She popped up surprised and shouted "I catapulted!" Also, when asked what she was thankful for, her choices today were toast and grapes. When pressed she did manage to add Gorilla and Duck. So cute, that one.

Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was lovely and perfect and definitely one to remember.
