December 31, 2010

Some photos from our driving tour of Boston this morning. If you'd told us five months ago that we'd be living here on New Year's Eve, we'd have called you crazy. But as you've likely picked up by now, we are deliriously happy to be back, what a great way to end the year.

We had other plans for lunch but they did not work out -- so it was off for a little treat at McDonald's. Not that anyone really minded.

A time for crafting after naps.

We had a lemonade toast to the new year -- quickly followed by actual toast, on which the girls insisted after hearing we were having a toast.

Happy new year!

Everyone rushes to the window to wave goodbye to Kate's beloved speech therapist, Kelly.

The Play Doh bakery is always so much fun!

"I'm baking some delicious sweets!" declares Suki.

Grace takes a turn.

Three girls, three games -- though things did get more cooperative as time went by.

Grace reads a book to to her delighted sisters.

After this, our friend Sarah came over for a pizza party. We painted with watercolors, laughed with dinner, and totally forgot to take any pictures, alas.

Three sisters on a silly "train."

Grace had a friend and her sister come over today -- they had a great time at our hot chocolate party.

Grace and her friend both really love playing with small animals and built tiny houses for them out of blocks.

Laughing together in the morning.

Everyone has been having so much fun with Grace's camera.

Grace explains some of the finer points of reviewing photos taken.

Grace and her beautiful magna-tile tower.

Tower time!

Decorating with some beads.

The Christmas Hotel for Animals is complete!

Helicopter fun in the kitchen.

Grace checks out the hotel.

Getting ready to plant her sensory dome. First she examines the seed packets.

Then she traces the pot and plots out her garden plan. Herbs go in the middle, the dots at the top are the polka dot plants, there's a cabbage on the right, a koala for the eucalyptus plants at the bottom ad then some spikes for aloe on the left.

She poured in the dirt and mixed it with water.

Planting the aloe seeds, but only inside the hand boundary.

Poking in the eucalyptus.

So pleased with her completed garden!

Looking in to see if there are any sprouts five minutes later.

We also planted my little Nyokki duck and put it next to Grace's latest science experiment -- I think this one is about mixing colors.

Out the front windows, as the blizzard winds down.

All dressed up for some ballet with Mozart.

Grace's art gift to us today was this depiction of the Little Einsteins blasting into outer space. I just love all of those planets. She'll recite them in order, tell you what they're made of, what colors they are -- that girl can retain anything, I think.

Suki's pirate and candy extravaganza -- she is so enthusiastic.

Kate carefully paints on this penguin.

Grace helps David make lunch.

The view from the back windows.

A peaceful post-lunch play time.
