December 25, 2010

All ready to come downstairs to see their stockings!

Grace could hardly believe Boots was here!

I made these little tins and the stickers that I put inside, based on the things in which each girl is most interested. They took each one out so carefully and even cuddled the especially cute ones.

So happy to find Baby Jaguar inside!

Grace looks through her prism.

Grace introduces Boots to her brown monkey.

Discovering Quincy from Little Einsteins in her tin.

Checking out Suki's gyroscope.

Kate admires her magnets.

Kate looks at herself in the mirror.

Laughing while they wait for breakfast.

These gingerbread girl pancakes turned out looking like some kind of whipped creamed Venus of Willendorf (here) but the girls did not mind.

Waiting patiently to open their gifts. We really tried to be so slow and calm about this Christmas morning and it was our best yet. We didn't eat breakfast until 10, didn't start opening gifts until 11.

Racing to bring trash to "the trash man."

Looking at their Sabuda pop up book about gods and heroes.

Kate and I Am A Bunny. We played with toys a bit and read books as we opened them so that we could slow down the pace of Christmas morning.

Grace and her game of Qwirkle.

And looking at her chemistry set.

Suki could hardly believe she had her own working drill. There are exchangeable bits and it can go forward or in reverse, so she had plenty of fun learning how to get the screws in the board.

Kate and her magnetic bead game.

Grace starts to learn how to work her camera.

Kate arrives to help out.

Suki looks in at her helicopter.

Kate builds a tower with her magna-tiles.

Suki shows off her completed board.

The girls made David a calendar, as they do every year for him to hang in his office. This year, they each wrapped it, first Kate's blue layer, then Suki's green layer, and finally Grace's red layer.

Looking at this year's ornaments.

A last spinning art gift for all three girls to share.

Suki's helicopter launch!

A better look at these shenanigans:

Also a much better look at our messy holiday kitchen :)

Some post-nap chemistry experiments.

Sharing the drill.

Our chip and dip party while watching Christmas Eve on Sesame Street.

Cheers!
