Grace wanted to sit in the backseat, just this once. And I told her that it wasn't allowed, that it would mean breaking a law that was meant to keep her safe. And I told her that when kids her age get in trouble, that usually means the parents get in trouble too -- and she just loved that. She delighted at the idea that the police would pursue me and I'd be getting in trouble because of something she did. And this is the girl who will one day pick out my retirement home. I am doomed.
After lunch we went to a coffee for our poem a day group. These girls had a lot of fun playing together while we talked.
It was very windy outside, the weather's changing and we could certainly feel the storm front approaching.
Here's a look you don't want to see -- David and I work on not making eye contact with Kate when she's outside because when she looks your way it usually means she's about to run and she wants to make sure you see she's about to do it. Not that you can say anything to stop her -- she'll just try to get as far down the street as possible before you catch up.
