Today was the open house at Grace's preschool!

We had so much fun meeting her new teachers and visiting her old ones, looking at her classroom and hearing about all of the fun they will have this year.

David stayed home with Suki and Kate, who had so much fun they were sorry to see him go.

Chalking some rocks helped ease the pain.

They were startled by some landscapers across the street, though.

I just love this sweet face.

Who's that? Looking through the branches, looking back at me?

Busy little girl.

Stomping some bubbles.

Kate is like a perfect peach of a toddler.

Grace shows off the Lego city she built.

Suki watches Grace as she puts together a puzzle.

We had our party celebrating the start of the school year tonight. David's going to be out of town on the actual first day of school so this seemed as good a time as any to have our celebration.

Grace specified the menu, down to the cherry topped chocolate cupcakes.

Kate loved them!

Grace opened her gifts after dessert.

She was delighted to see a set of devil ducks.

And she loved her new locket with a picture of her and gorilla on one side, a picture of all five of us on the other. This way she can have him at school without actually taking him into school.

Showing her locket to David.

A party can start off all dignified but go downhill quickly. Note Suki eating her cupcake right off of her plate while Kate kicks her feet up on the table while she leans back to finish off her dessert.

One shot of our party decorations. Grace loved this giant monkey balloon and the red star balloons were so perfect -- last year her class was the Butterfly class, this year it's the Red Star class. I had nothing to do with the choosing of the balloons, though, our dear friend and neighbor brought them over for our party.
