This week we're talking about insects.
Bug Bites for breakfast are a great way to start talking about them! After breakfast we looked around
this site and then really enjoyed
this one (fair warning, I think that last one starts talking as soon as you click). Grace ran and got her insect puzzle as we watched.
The girls looked through their bug buckets, which contained all kinds of insect toys from around the house.
Then we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and played along with our caterpillar toy.
Grace lined up some of the bugs on the chair.
And flipped through one of our insect books.
Kate takes a closer look at these caterpillars
The way Suki looks when Grace enters a room.
I love these three together.
Suki's new obsession is fitting shapes into this cube.
And Kate came along to play with the ball machine.
Putting the shapes in the cube together the easy way.
Suki knows she's forbidden to ride Kate like a pony -- this is her compromise.
I was showing Grace how knowing nursery rhymes by heart can help her identify words in a rhyme on the page. That girl seems so close to reading and she's so independent, I think that giving her hints about how she can teach herself the words on the page can only help her.
Funny face!
Trying on my hair band.
A smooch.
Perched on top of the chair.
Careful balancing.
These funny girls are acting out a scene from the Wonder Pets Join the Circus.
Arrr!
Showing off her poor chin.
She was standing at this same spot yesterday when she lost her balance, banged her chin and bit her tongue hard enough to leave marks visible even today. Poor girl.
