Our friend Rosemary arrived to bring her to show off how comfortable she was trying new things in the water. Grace still has her limp and after yesterday's time at the mall it seemed a bit worse. Still, I knew the assessment itself wouldn't be hard on her leg and Rosemary was prepared to carry her if she needed help.
Running like Superbunny!
When Grace returned with Rosemary I was sad to hear that she'd been in pain even with the Motrin we gave her. I was very proud to hear that she was very polite about declining the requests she didn't want to complete and about asking for help when she needed it. Long story short, when she's feeling better and is back to her usual ways, she'll have a reassessment to see if learning to swim in this program this year is right for her.

I was feeling like a neglectful parent for not having a professional take a look at her leg earlier so I brought her to see the PA at her pediatrician's office. While we waited for her Grace pretended to nap as I spun her in the chair and she loved the Canadian geese outside. Not as popular was the exam, which while blessedly free of shots (Grace's chief concern whenever we visit the office) did result in an order for a set of x-rays.
Sipping a Yoohoo the office staff offered her while we waited for the radiologist to read the results. These photos capture the calm, happy moments but the morning was actually filled with an awful lot of craziness and bad behavior. Grace didn't have her usual breakfast and she's hurting and the swim assessment was probably a little anxiety provoking, as was the pediatrician's office and then of course there were the x-rays, where they had to haul her back into the room three separate times for new images. Oh! And in the waiting room at the doctor's office when we emerged from the exam, Tarzan was playing -- but the part that was playing showed a gorilla family angry and fighting a man and a tiger or something, and then there's a wee baby gorilla cowering in fear and Grace's eyes just widened as she watched. I tried to talk to her about it a bit, for purposes of explaining a bit more context and providing reassurance -- and promptly got pinched on the arm for my troubles. And so we promptly left (there were more conversations about it later, though). Anyway, I say all of this so you can imagine Grace's state while we were at the radiologist's office. These pictures paint a mighty different story than what I experienced is all I'm saying.
Diagnosis: no hairline fractures or breaks, likely a sprain or strain but the treatment is the same for both: lots of rest.

While we were away, David was living on easy street, playing with these two cherubs! Kate climbed up in the chair and Suki climbed in after her.
