June 6, 2009

Today was a big day -- Grace's first trip to the dentist! She looks a little... concerned? anxious? We'd prepared for the dentist by reading about Dora's trip and I think she wasn't sure exactly what to expect in an office that didn't look exactly like the one in the book. I'd highly recommend the book, though, especially for a Dora fan -- it does a great job of walking through all aspects of the visit.

How adorable are Suki and Kate? Very.

Soon, it was Grace's turn to head back!

They gave her a little mirror so she could see everything going on.

And they gave her little sunglasses to make her more comfortable under the light.

The hygienist was fantastic -- patient, easy going, and very flexible when Grace didn't want to use the electric toothbrush.

This photo shows just how comfortable Grace was in a situation that would have made her very anxious if approached in a different way. I mean, really -- flat in the chair, not holding Gorilla, someone else's arms on either side of her head, using the toothbrush this way -- I was so happy that she was fine with all of it and give a huge amount of credit to this office. They are so good with children!

Then these three waited with Dad while I had my exam.

We had a quick lunch at McDonalds.

Grace has her tiny tube of toothpaste, her purple ring from the dentist, and her big smile.

After naps Grace, Suki and I went to the playground while Dad and Kate ran some errands.

Suki usually has so much fun at the playground but was a little uncomfortable with one of the other parents there, which put a damper on her time there.

Still, if there's a puddle and a stick, Suki will have a good time.

Then we went out for dinner.

So cute!

I just love that we can go out with these three and have fun.

It turns out that Suki is wild about orange slices now -- she had lots of fun eating them tonight.

Kate takes solace in a box of juice swiped from Grace.
