July 24, 2009

Kate makes a funny face at breakfast.

Suki and Grace in a row.

Suki could not have enjoyed the orange juice here more. She kept asking the waitresses for the "yellow juice" and they loved the smile on her face when they brought it to her.

Grace also enjoyed her breakfast.

Grits a-plenty.

Kate adored the sausage.

Down in the music room, three sisters shared the piano.

Suki broke out into an impromptu Twinkle Twinkle and Kate broke into applause.

Can you spy Grace and David?

They're chatting in the chairs.

And looking out at the mountains.

Soon everyone was in a chair.

Then we headed down to the stables and the farm for some fun.

First we visited the goats.

Then we went to the stables to see the horses. Suki loved this one being so near but when spit fell from its mouth she started going on about how he was like a spittlebug in a sea of froth.

Kate climbed on the table to get a closer look.

Waiting around.

Grace takes a ride while David walks nearby.

Kate liked just watching.

Then it was back to the goats.

My girls were a little too short to really enjoy the effect of this sign.

That didn't stop them from trying, though.

Suki goes to find another goat.

Suki looks at the quail roost.

Then we looked at the calf with its strange little shelter.

Gorilla gets in on the impersonation act.

Kate toasts to all things dairy.

A sisterly tackle.

Kate loved these pygmy goats.

And the goats surely loved her.

Grace claimed this one as her own -- I don't know where she gets her ideas.

Looking at some gardening.

Admiring an apple tree.

Kate tries to copy Grace as she looks through the contents of a DVD case.

David and the mystery weed.

Fun at lunch.

Not the best picture of Suki but doesn't she look so much older here?

Happy with a roll.

Another view of the mountains.

Suki gathers river rocks.

After naps we painted those rocks. I had one idea of how this would go, and we did start out painting images on the rocks.

David took Kate to play elsewhere because this was not the easiest environment for a baby.

You can see here that the real attraction of this activity was being able to mix paint colors on their paper plate palettes.

They were happy spreading their mix on rocks but if they'd just had paint I suspect they would have been just as happy.

Looking at the stream.

David helps Kate climb the stairs.

Finishing up their rocks while Kate gazes out into the trees.

Our finished products.

David thought mine might contain giant handprints but in fact they were meant to be daisies. We all have our strengths, painting is not mine :)

Kate charmed the couple we were seated with at dinner with her funny faces.

Grace relished her spaghetti.

Suki... well, Suki was mostly interested in her jewelry.
