July 2, 2009

I was too late on the scene to capture this entire interaction but here's how it started: Suki wanted Kate to chase her, and Kate is always happy to oblige. But when Suki started running, she'd made an entire lap around the house by the time Kate went from the living room to the kitchen. I pointed out that pace might be a problem and Suki dropped down and began crawling -- Kate was delighted to chase her on all fours herself. And that's where this video picks up:

Watching to see where the next magnet will fall.

Grace loved a few minutes on the couch alone with me while her sisters engaged in their shenanigans.

Why is Grace laughing so hard? It's because she is having lots of fun fake-reading. She knows very well that words are read left to right and that each letter has its sound and she's getting better every day at sounding out words.

Not that you'd know it from this:

Before we completed our streamer craft (you can see the paper towel rolls wrapped in construction paper here) we read our Fourth of July book to recall the meaning of Independence Day.

Putting stars on her tube.

Each girl chose the streamer colors they wanted to put on their tubes.

Then it was time to shake!

Even Kate got one, and it remained surprisingly intact.

Ready to shake.

It was our way of celebrating the birthday of our country a little bit early.

Then we made some fireworks. Grace and Suki draw with glitter pens to create a background.

Then we dropped glue on the papers.

We pulled the glue spots into firework shapes with toothpicks.

Then we put glitter on top. We had a lot of fun with this messy craft.

Kate did not glue and glitter but had fun cruising around the kitchen.

Peek-a-boo in the curtain.

Grace gave me an exam with the stethoscope and otoscope and when she got frustrated with me, gave me a shot.

Suki looks out the window.
