July 1, 2009

Here's a bonus video from Kate's walking practice tonight:

Hold onto your hats, this is a jumbo post. Today was our first real ballet class and then we went to the playground.

Spinning before getting in the car.

In the parking lot and ready to go in for their class.

Playing before class begins.

Kate loves pushing these bars around.

Ready to begin! This class is specifically for big and little sisters to dance together and it's just perfect for my girls. It's also so cute seeing all of the sisters together!

Poor little Katiekins, still not officially a walker per se, and so not enrolled. Fortunately for us the instructors are happy to have parents and younger siblings in the room during class time.

A sort of ring around the rosy game.

Bouncing like frogs.

Just so happy.

Kate and Suki join another girl at this tiny stool.

The teacher instructed the children to put their feet to sleep, meaning to point them toward the ground. One of the girls took this as an invitation to snooze and then...

...one by one, several of the other girls follow suit, including Suki.

The younger siblings look on.

Swimming across the floor to hang from the bar like mermaids.

Little miss snootypants does -not- want to put on any wings, thank you very much!

You can tell Grace has bumped her head on this bar before.

Kate found another thing to push around -- this basket of wings!

She really loved practicing her walking in this room.

Such sweet sisters.

Practicing their moves.

I think this is Suki's favorite part -- the galloping around the room. She always loves a good chase!

More chasing! There are actual ballet moves they work into these fun moves, positions they practice by playing little games, etc. I know very little about it, though, so you just get my pitiful descriptions here -- the teacher would probably have a very different description of their activities.

Wands for the Snow White game.

Two big sisters together.

I love how even when presented with princess costumes my girls still opt for their own outfits, maybe with an extra tutu thrown on. I offered to buy them ballet shoes but they did not want them, they strongly preferred their crocs.

Lollipops are a fun treat after class. They had such an awesome time this morning and really tried to do what the teacher asked of them. I was so proud.

We got changed, put on some sunscreen and ran over to the playground to have some more fun. Here Suki brings Grace a juice box.

Can you even believe my Kate climbing up so high?

Kate spent most of her time on this ladder, she just loved it.

Grace looks through a book at the picnic table.

Suki perched on top of a play structure.

Kate, slightly irritated that I won't let her chew on a wrapper from the ground.

Gathered together around the table.

I just love these girls.
