May 26, 2010

We went to a local park today for Grace's preK graduation ceremony.

David helps Kate climb while we wait for things to get underway.

Suki loved tackling this but needed a rescue every time she got to the top.

The Red Star class files in as the ceremony begins.

All lined up and ready to go!

Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

When Grace's name was called, she went over to Miss Jamie.

Jamie talked about the way Grace loves animals, and about how Gorilla was named an honorary Red Star.

Shaking Miss Jamie's hand as the diploma is awarded.

Diploma in hand and very proud.

Greeting Miss Cheryl afterward.

The newly graduated Red Star class! They'll still attend school tomorrow but then they're all done.

Charlie and Dylan stand with Grace -- they all live in the same neighborhood and will go to the local elementary school together next year.

Suki did not want to cooperate with this photo at all, so these two were the best of the lot.

My little daredevil Kate.

There was a delicious breakfast buffet -- I don't think Grace moved from this spot once the food was out.

Bubbles!

Kate surprised me today by managing to go down stone steps with no hands held, by climbing on this horse all by herself and by shaking off more falls than you can shake a stick at. Between running and recklessness (she slid herself off a four foot platform straight to the ground as I was sprinting across the playground to get her!) she tumbled so many times and didn't cry or ask for help once. That girl is one tough cookie -- it's sort of a blessing and a curse.

Beanbag toss!

Gazing up at an airplane.

Every time she got one in she'd call out "I winned!"

So proud of climbing up the ladder!

As you can see, Suki's happily playing, Grace is still back at the buffet and Kate is trying to escape into the woods. It was a little tricky keeping track of that chimp.

Enjoying juice and water.

Bringing me her completed Alphabet book. She's been working on it all year!

Miss Jamie put together this book of photos from throughout the year. It is amazing.

Saying goodbye to Miss Cheryl.

Goodbye to Miss Jamie.

This is how stressed out I got about Kate's running off: when Kate sat in this pool of bubble solution she was so happy, quiet and still I just let her stay there.

Looking forward to kindergarten!
