February 10, 2010

After breakfast, we started on our Kai Lan craft day! Here, everyone's coloring in fan panels.

Looking out at the latest blizzard.

Playing a little game.

Grace holds her completed fan.

Suki's fan!

The one and only shot of Kate with her fan, because she ripped it in half while she explored its potential elasticity.

The girls loved the idea of making these lanterns, but since we had to use exacto knives for part there was only a bit they could help with.

After reading our Kai Lan Chinese New Year book, we watched some videos of dragons dancing on the computer. This one was our favorite dragon performance.

Then there was some leaping around like a dragon.

A wee break to look out at the storm.

Cuddled close while blizzard gazing.

A tri-hug!

Such sweet sisters.

Then it was time for an impromptu game of puppies puppies puppies! You may recall the game is usually played around here when one or more girls hold on to a string or bit of ribbon and marches about singing the puppies song. Today it was more of a conga formation! And after all that, they chased each other like mad things pretending to be ponies.

This wasn't the peak of our whiteout conditions today -- at its worst, I couldn't even see the house across the cul de sac.

After all of that physical activity, it was time for a snack -- chocolate ice cream!

A few views from outside.

These photos hardly do all of our snow justice.

We played a Kai Lan matching game...

...and then we colored in all of the animals in the Chinese zodiac.

Then we hung them up!

Grace loves cuddling Tyrone and she was so adorable in front of the snowy window I couldn't resist a picture. I was amazed she was able to dress as Tarzan even in a turtleneck!
