November 8, 2009

Sweet Kate in the dress Granny thought she was going to wear for her first birthday -- there was a misunderstanding and so she wore it today instead!

Suki looks forward to her guests' arrival.

Grace poses in front of some of our candy decorations -- the theme for Suki's party today was sugar and spice.

The red cinnamon centers are on carrot spice cupcakes, the pink jellybean centers are on the strawberry cupcakes.

My piping skills leave a lot to be desired I know.

Watching for our first friends to arrive.

We decorated cardboard gingerbread houses with stickers and guessed at how many jellybeans were in a jar (you can see the jar next to the cupcakes above).

Then it was time for lunch!

As is so often the case, our guests did not sit exactly where we thought -- rather than split into two seating areas, some spontaneous picnicking broke out on the dining room floor.

Sean and Suki.

Emmy, Sarah and Kate.

Scout and Grace.

David and Suki.

Kate, Madeline, Raia and Elisabeth.

Valentina helps Suki build a Lego stack, Kate looks at books and Emmy looks on.

Elisabeth, Viviana Sean, Grace, Emmy, Valentina and Sarah.

Time for cake, Suki!

Happy birthday!

Sook did a great job blowing out her candle!

Suki and Lauren.

Valentina and Scout.

Messy faces!

Kate gets a bite of cake.

Madeline, Suki and a very rushed Elisabeth.

Scout says goodbye to Suki.

Sean and Grace look at the favor table -- we put treats in the gingerbread houses everyone decorated but the giant lollipops proved almost irresistible.

Valentina and Viviana say goodbye.

David reads with Sean and Lauren.

Suki and Grace come to hear the story.

Madeline and Elisabeth say their farewells.

Kate was pounding her lollipop like a wild thing on the floor and at first we thought it was just destructive hammering -- until we noticed she was doing it so she could suck the sugary powder through the holes that opened up in the plastic.

David shows off Kate's sack of sugary sweetness.

If that wasn't going to work, she was going to pull books off of the shelves.

Emmy, Lauren and Sean say their goodbyes.

A kiss for Sean.

Looking at the stickers in her card.

She loved her ladybug game!

A gorgeous book from a friend.

So fancy!

Suki with her entire Fancy Nancy ensemble! Awesome.

Grace addressed her as Your Majesty whenever she wore this get up today.

A sweet little card.

Cars! Yay!

A bead game, can you believe such a thing exists?

It even included a birthday crown.

What a fun day celebrating Suki turning three!
