November 15, 2009

Today our sweet Suki turned three and as is our way, she got to celebrate any way she chose. She decided to start with a peanut butter and jelly breakfast.

Then it was time for a rousing game of "ball catch."

Then a wagon ride...

...to the playground.

She loved tossing mulch into these puddles.

After the playground we went over to our friends Marcia, Viviana and Valentina's house for a make your own pizza lunch!

For non-pet-owners, my girls are remarkably gentle and sensible with animals. This cat does not usually enjoy children but stayed still for the better part of an hour while Grace gently patted him. We always talk about being soft and slow when it comes to animals (and making sure the pet always has an escape route if it needs one) and it's nice to see those lessons working.

Kate says goodbye to her pal Viviana.

After naps, Suki got to open her presents from the immediate family. This Up and Down Roller Coaster was well received by all three girls.

Here's a video of these girls enjoying Suki's new toy:

Then it was time for Suki to open the present Grace chose for her -- this was the first time she'd ever selected a present for someone all by herself.

She knows Suki loves puppies and hot air balloons, so she assembled these three sister dogs, wrote G, S, K on their three tags, and chose this basket because it made her think of giving dogs a hot air balloon ride. I thought it was very creative and thoughtful.

A sisterly birthday kiss?

Then Suki opened her present from Kate (I helped with this one).

Kate got big kid underpants for her big sister! Suki's been talking about wanting some just like Grace's, wanting to use a toilet just like Grace, we'll see if this helps make a difference in the actual progress.

A sweet cuddle for my gingersnap.

It's hard to believe it was three years ago I first met this girl.

Cake time!

Suki wanted a strawberry cake with whipped cream and berries on top.

What a fun day, a fun party, a fun girl.
