September 7, 2008

Kate and I spent 3.5 hours today canvassing neighborhoods for the Obama campaign.

We knocked on 35 doors assigned to us in that time and talked to voters about the November elections. Most of the people on our walk were very enthusiastically pro-Obama but the best part for me was meeting a voter who will be out of town for on Election Day and helping her get everything she needs to cast er absentee ballot. We came home exhausted but the feeling of accomplishment is totally worth it.

Suki can turn the light on and off by herself.

She's awfully proud of this, especially since her sister Grace can do it too.

Suki's so excited to see Kate!

Climbing up again.

Looking out the door.

Sadly, Grace preferred tantrum throwing after her nap to going to the pool on closing day today.

Lots of tantrums. This girl doesn't just get up on the wrong side of the bed, she erupts out of it.

It got better.

Also, we are so proud of the progress Grace has made in the pool over the course of the summer. She started off only wanting to be in her Dad's arms and wound up able to jump off the steps and walk around by herself, spinning and balancing on one leg. It shows so much more confidence in her ability to keep herself safe in the water and her willingness to try new things and persist with them even if they are hard at first. It's a shame we didn't get to celebrate this at the pool today but it doesn't diminish the accomplishment.
