So we did some shopping. We went to the Disney store first and gave them free rein to roam around but they weren't interested in that either.
A very patient David and a very grabby Kate. These two went for a walk for a little while because this is really a tough place for a one year old.
She did enjoy seeing the Map and Backpack, though. A worker at Claire's called her Cheeks, which I think is charming.
Braceleted up. Incredibly enough, for all these girls enjoy shopping they do not yet equate that with buying. We had a blast and then put all the jewelry back and went on our way.
We walked toward the Halloween store but Grace stopped dead in her tracks when she saw all of this Redskins stuff. Her teacher is a huge Redskins fan and talks about the team in class to teach geography and math, etc. And so for the first time in the history of our family, we've got someone who's paying any attention to sports on a regular basis.
At the Halloween store the girls were intrigued by this inflatable scene (and a little terrified by a life sized Freddie figure that moved and made some creepy noises). We tried to put a positive spin on it by showing them how everything in the store was pretend, the cats and snakes, the masks, etc. They understand this mostly, but I think the movement and noisy sound effects overwhelm their logic in the more extreme pieces.
Kate had her usual rambling way. Just outside this door a youngish guy passed me (David and Kate were walking ahead, I had Suki and Grace each holding a hand) and remarked about Kate that he'd never seen a happier baby. And it's true, she just beams at everyone as she walks along in her independent, bold little way.
As we were getting ready to go Kate made one more break for it. I swear, we have to watch that child like hawks.
After naps, we went to IHOP -- the girls have been asking about it and we decided to go for dinner rather than a more crowded breakfast trip.
