October 29, 2009

Before we left for the parade and party at Grace's school, Grace models her spittlebug costume.

This is the little spittlebug that's at the center of the bubble wrap spittle on her chest. I know it's cheating to put an image of what the costume's supposed to be on the costume itself but I went with it because if Grace got shy about talking about the costume at least people would have a helpful hint nudging them down the right path. It's not an easy one to guess.

The back!

Suki and Kate look through the door at our little photo session on the front lawn.

David was able to join us for the parade and we were lucky enough to find our friends Sarah, Zach, Lauren and Emily too!

Kate was especially glad to see him.

Suki was shy about the dads there, as is her wont. It looked like Lauren was just being sweet and trying to comfort her friend but later I discovered Suki's treat in Lauren's hand and so I suspect her intent may have been different than I'd imagined.

Lauren and Emmy go try to bring Kate back to our little group.

I spoke to Grace about her apprehension during this parade and it turned out she too was a little nervous about all of the new men standing around the parade site.

All lined up with her class.

She wasn't too thrilled to be up there.

Dad offers some words of comfort to the worried little spittlebug.

Then it was off to the playground for fun and games.

Grace chose a cookie and brought it back for Suki.

Suki was very happy with Grace's gesture.

Kate just loved poking at these dots.

A tattoo for Grace.

These sweet girls wanted Suki to sit between them.

Fishing with Miss Nora.

Suki takes a turn while Grace chooses her prize.

The real game for Suki was all about pouring water out of the jack o'lanterns and back into the pan.

Kate had a real feeling this jar of treats was worth her attention.

A shot of the four of us -- David had to get back to work and at the time he left it was definitely the wrong time for a photo.
