October 22, 2009

Today Grace took a notion to sit on the front stoop for a group photo.
This website contains a certain amount of evidence that I do enjoy a posed photo but today we were dashing out the door, frantically trying to get to our pediatrician before walk in hours were over. I'd been operating under the assumption that I was just dropping Grace off at preK and then taking Suki and Kate to a local farm so this threw things off a bit.

Still, I do like to encourage the groupiness, so here they sit. Kate's had a strange cough the last couple of mornings but Grace was the one to ask for a visit to the doctor's office before school. She was still complaining about a sore throat and a slight cough so I thought it made sense to get it checked out.

One last shot before we were on our way.

Admiring the airplanes at the ceiling.

Choosing her favorite color airplane.

The sign on the table is about preventing flu by removing all magazines from the office. Kate did her part by trying to climb on the table.

The two patients in the examination room.

Suki was quite the cranky cakes -- I think she was worried that she was going to somehow wind up with an exam too.

Suki looking out at the parking lot.

Kate is starting to get bored.

Trying to keep them occupied is no small feat.

Grace had her first step culture (negative -- also not exactly the tickle as it was described. Afterward, with tears in her eyes she revealed to the doctor that -that- was not her vision). She was diagnosed with an irritated throat due to post nasal drip. Kate's cough is due to an ear infection we didn't know we had -- it's draining to her nose and throat but her lungs are clear of infection.

Then we went to drop Grace off at preschool. Naturally we were well outside the drop off window and so we all walked her in.

Some were distracted by the playground on the way in.

Then I went through the drive through at the pharmacy to pick up the prescription Kate's doctor had faxed over. We needed fruit, so we decided to try a brand new grocery store.

The fish section was unbelievably popular -- I've never seen one with so many live fish.

I may as well have taken them to an aquarium for all the delight they had here.

Then we picked up some lunch and went to go get Grace. Here, Suki's pretending to nap and then roaring "who disturbs my nap!" She thinks this is a great joke.

Kate waits patiently.

Grace comes out with the alphabet box we decorated yesterday.

Revealing color competence for the week.

Showing the star to Kate but careful to keep it away from grabby hands.

A skunk! The tail is on a brad, so it can be lowered and raised.

Showing off the skunk's claws.

The smile on her face when she sees Miss Jamie, her teacher, across the parking lot. I love to see her so happy.
