January 23, 2009

Followers on Facebook know that yesterday we faced a surprisingly bad plumbing emergency. On Thursday, one plumber came to assess and stabilize the situation, today a second plumber came to fix the problem. Naturally, Grace and Suki were not thrilled to have a new man with loud machinery in their house, and the strangeness of the toilet sitting in the middle of the living room did not help the situation. So they hid.

At first their hiding place of choice was our library.

Grace put Gorilla "in his cosleeper."

Then she cuddled up with him. It's adorable, seeing how these girls mimic the care taking they see and receive from us.

Suki read some books.

Kate hung out with me, because she wouldn't stop trying to go "help" the plumber.

Grace and Suki then moved into their playhouse. They love being together.

Kate gives me a sly look as she makes her move toward the plumber and all of the things he had on a tarp.

The girls feathered their nest with pillows and blankets.

So reinforced, they then proceeded to bash themselves and each other around inside the cardboard walls. Half the time I couldn't tell whether they were having fun or feeling under siege. It turned out the answer was always that they were having fun.

Feeding Kate like a baby bird after the plumber left.
