September 10, 2010

Such tired babies -- they had a 12:30 am bedtime and we had to wake them seven hours later.

They were slumbering so soundly and were so bitterly disappointed to be roused.

Honestly, it was a brutal parenting moment, waking these girls up in time to make all of our commitments today. We knew they needed rest but Grace's school had slated her for an 8:30 meet and greet with her teacher, a time to explore her classroom and the school, and I didn't want her to miss it. Plus the cable/internet guy was slated to arrive at 8:00 and the movers between 8 and 9, so there really was no way to avoid the early wake up.

These girls were excited to go into their house for the first time but not very excited to pause for a photo.

In their new bedroom the little alcove to the left is Grace's spot, I'll try to get a better photo soon.

Grace meets her kindergarten teacher. She is awesome, I am so glad that Grace will have her this year.

Running around the gym.

The cafeteria is small and seems very manageable. I still cannot imagine how lunch at school will happen, but I know that it will.

The playground.

Suki and Kate in the backyard. We live on a very steep hill, and so everything is terraced. The stone retaining walls are very old and all mossy and wonderful.

Suki loves to share sticks and stones and flowers and leaves.

Grace sought out a quiet spot in a closet in David's office.

Kate and Suki met the neighbor's cat first.

Then we met the neighbors themselves, and Maeve is right between Grace and Suki, age-wise and was an immediate friend. Grace followed her into her house to see the other cat and her snake and fish, I have never seen Grace make such a fast friend.

Sleep schedules are all out of whack, as you'd imagine. Here, Grace tries to get Suki's attention but is not very successful.

Opening a gift tower from Aunt Tina, Uncle Steve, Clara and Elena.

Everyone was so excited -- it was so much fun to open this up!

In fact, it may have been dinner for more than one person...

Suki is Scar (from the Lion King) on a rocky cliff. They have never seen the movie, but lordy me do they love their pop up book.

So sweet.
Thank you everyone who has helped make this move so easy and even fun at times.
