April 23, 2009

Oh, friends and family, perhaps you will lament my utter lack of ability to present you with a carefully edited accounting of the day. No, you get an edited version but perhaps not quite as edited as it could be if I were truly ruthless.

Today was take your child to work day and after careful consideration, we decided that it would be best to send in just Grace with her dad.

She was extremely excited about her adventures ahead. First we'll have some Suki and Kate pictures and then we'll get to all of the fun these two had today.

Pretty and vociferous.

My little beauty.

Suki tries to spot the helicopter.

Little companions.

Don't you think the orange tulips highlight Suki's hair color?

Digging with her stick.

How adorable is my girl? Can you guess why she's making this face?

Because she kept trying to eat these seed pods from one of our maples. Over and over.

And making this face of disgust each time.

Suki kept joking that the house next door was her house, that this driveway and walkway were hers, that the stones were hers. Actually, I do think the stones were the main thing that kept drawing her close.

Reflected baby.

A hug between sisters.

Suki makes her happy face.

Running!

Happy girl.

What a dreamy little portrait.

All smiles.

What a fun girl.

Kate tries hard to stand up.

Climbing a tree.

One last photo of Suki.

Here's Grace outside her dad's office, in the wind.

So blurry because she was too excited to stand still.

The people who organized the activities for the children did a fantastic job -- Grace loved solving this puzzle like her dad solves problems at work.

And eating snacks like Dad eats snacks at work. This is her first Rice Krispie treat -- she'd never heard of them before today.

She had a great time at the white board.

Drawing with a new friend.

Examining a switchboard.

Solved! Grace is awesome at puzzles.

Just look at all of this fun stuff! Grace was the youngest child there today by a few years but she received many compliments on how well behaved she was, what a good conversationalist. She got more relaxed more quickly than we'd have expected.

Just look at this happy, happy face.

All of that fun took a lot out of her, though -- she crashed in the car right after it started moving.

I mean, she really sacked out. She went shopping with her dad to get some birthday treats for her sweet mother and there was even more fun there as she and David pushed the cart together and chatted. What a big day.
