My fabulous birthday girl and her big kid breakfast.

Suki plays with Kate.

Such a birthday beauty.

First time picking up a "pencil" and drawing.

Not the first time eating it.

A new year, a new do.

Grace is very proud to have opened the carton of eggs by herself for the first time.

Kate's tiny toes.

Reaching up for a basket. Today for the first time, she deliberately rummaged through them for a toy. And also for the first time (we were upstairs and cameraless) she pulled up to full standing at Grace's bed.

Pleased with drawing the number 7.

Suki is usually shirtless after naps -- maybe she gets too hot? Or possibly bored.

A weak attempt at smiles.

Cast your mind way back to a year ago...

How things have changed!

So cute, even if we never did really get the picture I was going for.

Kate eyes her birthday candle.

Her sisters were excellent at helping her blow it out.

Kate eyes her little treat.

She just loved it!

Mind you, I don't think she had any real idea about it being her birthday but hey, chocolate is always welcome around here.

Suki and her pudding.

And Grace with hers.

A few minutes later, Grace asked for some cereal... "for a birthday treat." I tried to explain to her that it wasn't -her- birthday, and that the birthday treat usually relates to the birthday girl. She was unimpressed by this notion and as you can see, wound up with some cereal because she is adorable.

Suki had the messiest chocolate face, but I suppose that's the price she's willing to pay for some pudding.

In her final first of the day, while I was in the kitchen right before bedtime I turned to find Kate sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. There was nothing around for her to do her usual pull up and roll maneuver, so that means she came to a full sit for the first time. What a big day!
