Apple picking day!

Picking up some cider doughnuts first.

We are the luckiest -- the sneaky back way into this orchard is about 50 feet from our house. Cross a rock wall, push aside some brambles, and walk a very short way and you're all the way at the very back row of apples at the top of this hillside orchard. Today we got permission from the orchard's owner to sneak in and take what we liked, he believed the orchard was fully picked. We were the only ones there, with lots of apples and beautiful scenery.

What we failed to bring, however, was a basket or bag or ANYTHING useful to contain the apples. Kate volunteered her coat, and we slipped the apples between the lining and the coat itself, which worked out surprisingly well.
