November 15, 2006

Today our amazing daughter Susanna (Suki) was born (at 8:58 AM). Our friend Gina came over at 5:00AM to watch Grace and we arrived at the E.R. reception (nothing else was open) at 6. Thus began a long day, partially documented below.

Dad suiting up for the O.R.

Ready to go.

Mom came through the surgery like a champ.

Mom and baby Suki having some cuddle time before Suki and Dad head to the nursery.

Dad, Mom, and Suki relaxing in the O.R., as much as one can relax in an O.R.

Suki certainly looks like her big sister did as a newborn...

But Suki's got some serious lung power!!!

Dad and baby hanging out in the nursery.

A sweet moment between Mom and Suki.

Soft afternoon light and a few quiet moments.

Suki likes a room with a view.

Late afternoon with Dad.

Dad went to get Grace later in the afternoon to meet her little sister and visit with Mom. She wasn't quite sure what to make of Suki.

Here Mom explains about Suki. Grace lights up and seems enthused -- for a moment.

A bit more uncertainty and then...

A sweet caress for her little sister!
Forget about a kiss though. That was completely out of the question.
Perhaps in a future post.

So what was Grace up to while Mom and Dad greeted Suki in the hospital? She was relaxing with her good friends Joseph, Gina, Heather, and Liam over at Gina's house. Here she and Joseph enjoy a ride on the fire truck.

Sharing letters at the magnetic board. Joseph and Grace are best pals.

A trio of happy lunchtime diners.
