October 27, 2007

Our big day started with a trip to the library, where Grace found a new Little Quack book.

Suki looks around before heading over to the bookshelves. She loves pulling the books from the shelves and giving them to me! She's turned into a little talker now and will say "Thank you!" every time she hands us something or gives us a kiss. So cute.

Dad and Grace read some books.

Ever a girl with a plan, Suki pulls up on the back of Grace's chair to try to grab a bit of hair.

We had a fun (if late) lunch and then after a nap it was time to carve our pumpkin!

Suki enjoyed playing with the pieces carved from the pumpkin. Grace specified the jig-jag cut.

What a smile!

Looking through the menu of jack o'lantern options.

Giddy with excitement.

Grace peruses the different cuts a jack o'lantern can have.

Making her selections for eyes, nose, and mouth.

What great girls.

Busy carving.

Showing Grace how I drew the design before cutting.

Showing me the nose.

Suki takes a look.

All done! The square eyes, round nose, and mouth with one little tooth were all Grace's choice.

Suki takes a closer look at the lit jack o'lantern.

Grace loves it!

Reading before dinner.

Looking through the library books.

Dad loves to read to his girls.

After dinner we delivered candy to friends in the neighborhood and when we stopped to chat at one house Grace got her first look at adults in Halloween costumes. She was a little daunted but warmed up, especially when she saw one woman in a Daisy Duck costume. Tomorrow: a Halloween party and parade!
