September 25, 2010

We went to Atkins Farms in Amherst today to go apple picking. We had a wee picnic lunch first.

My friend Amy was able to come by and meet David and Rebekah for the first time. This was also the first time she's seen the girls since the fateful Emily Dickinson adventure of last July -- this time around was much sweeter and calmer.

Chatting about ice cream and monkeys.

Then it was apple picking time! Heading out to western Massachusetts was a last minute decision, and so we didn't realize that the apples had frozen in parts of Amherst this year. There were no eating apples available to pick, but the girls didn't mind picking these tiny ones from the apple trees on the property.

Kate thinks this game is so funny!

September 24, 2010

Passing a new cat on the way to school.

Sunshine on a cloudy day.

Driving the tractor.

At the top of the slides with Sebastian.

At the diner waiting for Inae and Sebastian to arrive.

Who am I to interfere when a girl enjoys half and half so much that she pops in a straw?

Spinning stools with Sebastian.

Playing with Rebekah back at the house.

Cariboo Island time while Kate naps.

Grace eyes Sebastian after pick up.

Pondering the mysteries of the playground.

We came back to find Suki playing trains with Rebekah.

Art time. Also banana time.

I could not be more charmed by this start to a monkey story.

Suki explained the difference between stalactites and stalagmites, Grace talked about the differences in images reflected from concave and convex surfaces, and Aunt Rebekah pretended to be an alligator eating all of the fish.

Suki started banging her drumsticks together, shouting 1,2,3,4 and then banging away on the drum. So cute!

Kate was so cute popping into this frame I had to post it.

How Rebekah and David were able to express such fatigue in the midst of such a musical program I will never know.

What a musical group.
