April 17, 2015

Grace and I are off to Immigration Day! She was so excited to portray her assigned identity, Marina. She is an 18 year old Polish girl, coming to this country to pursue a career in singing, hoping to wind up at the Met. For this reason, she hopes to avoid marriage ;) She is healthy and happy and has $134 to start her journey.

Laughing with our beloved school nurse as we head in.

In line for her character evaluation. Each fourth grader needed to go through four stations, to check their health, vocation, character, etc., to see how qualified they were for citizenship.

Approved for citizenship! Marina was extremely happy about this.

Our state senator and state representative were on hand to deliver flags to the new citizens.

The superintendent of school leads the children in the loyalty oath.

The state senator speaks about citizenship.

And our state representative addressed the crowd as well.

Then Suki, Kate and I went to pick up Laila for her lacrosse game, played here in our town.

They really loved watching her play in the goalie position.

With our sweet Lauryn.

Post-game happiness.

Looking out at the bunny.
