And... this is where things really start to get interesting. Suki's now able to sit up and play with her toys, reaching into the basket and rummaging for what she wants, etc. This brought a whole new element into play this morning.

I think Grace is a little surprised to see Suki actually playing like another kid, and not lying on the floor simply watching.

There was some competition over toys but I think they're getting better about taking turns and sharing.

Suki up close.

Grace, absorbed in play.

Unfortunately, the cold lingered today so that we were not able to go on our picnic with our friends and their chocolate cupcakes. Much better, though, I think. Hopefully it will be all cleared up for the weekend.

And lo, on the solstice came a midsummer cold.
Poor Grace woke up with some bad head congestion today, causing us to miss our scheduled playgroup.

Also, we were out of tissues, hence the roll of toilet paper. It was very glamorous around here today. Grace took a chance with this new plaything to "take the little duck back to the pond," centering the smallest duck over the cardboard core.

A Suki closeup.

A new, chunky-cheeked perspective.

Mid-sneeze.

A slightly subdued girl.

As a little treat, we put on The Sound of Music. Grace has seen some songs performed on YouTube, but never the actual movie. Now, after seeing it many times over, The Lonely Goatherd is a new favorite. This is a different performance of that song, but don't you think Grace will love it?

Growing wary of the Baroness.

Untouched by illness so far, Suki had a very happy day.

Another little treat were the moon and star sandwiches.

Ready for her own lunch!

Today we went to a new library!

Grace takes a look around.

Suki debates a continuation of her nap.

By the reference desk.

Reading a Clifford book. She seems to have recently realized that even though a drawing of a character may be different, it is still the same character. So there were many cries of "Yeah, that's the same dog!" to be heard at the table.

No more naps! The library is too much fun.

And she managed to lose her sock, too.

One with Suki.

One with Grace.

Ready to sweep up.

We went to the mall to play at the play place, but the lure of Claire's was too strong for Grace to resist! It was once more off to play with the duck.

Smiley Suki.

I just love this top.
Monkey see...

Monkey do.

Suki had the best time with this doll today! As little as Grace tends to care about dolls, Suki adores them. This one seemed especially interesting to her, maybe because of the realistic eyes.

Bouncing the ball ("especially like an armadillo!" as Grace would say).

Rocking out to some Dan Zanes.

Hysterical.

Defining parallel play.

I love seeing close, quiet moments between these two.

Sneaking a turn with a duck.

Can I resist a cute shot on the monitor? Apparently no, I cannot. She is adorable napping!

Dad watches our little Father's Day video.

It was hard to keep his eyes off of a very entertaining Suki!

Sisters playing.

A tragic victim of blueberry pancakes.

Reading the card with Dad.

Time for a little book reading, too.

What showed up on the monitor during Suki's nap. Look at those legs! So pinchable.

My little Michelin girl.

As of today, Suki can sit unsupported and play! Not terribly reliably and once every few minutes she'll fail to correct herself and slip off to the side, but it's great to see.

Sitting and playing with the mouse.

A (very) quick little something for Father's Day with images from the past year:

Thanks David, for all that you do. We love you!
